Santa Fe de Antioquia is a city in northwestern Colombia. Known as the Mother City, it is characterized by its colonial buildings, 8 churches and several houses from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Its cobblestone streets conserve fragments of Antioquean chronicles of importance as historical heritage. The Puente de Occidente, made of wood and steel, was built in the 19th century by the local engineer José María Villa (who also worked on the Brooklyn Bridge, in New York) today a National Monument since 1987, it is suspended over the Cauca River in the northeast. In the main square of the city, there is the Whitewashed Metropolitan Cathedral, with its tall tower.
